Beginners Small Leather Accesories
This course is designed to introduce you to Leatherwork and to give you a good foundation on which to develop your skill independently or though other more advance courses on offer.
On this course you will gain hands on experience in the production of patterns and products using traditional leather craft techniques to get creative and personalise your own work.
The course demonstrates these techniques through a series of projects which build a small portfolio of items you will cut patterns for and make. Which may include:

a simple needle case

a key case
-
phone or ipod case

covered trinket box
The course includes

Pattern cutting techniques

Learning about types of leather – their qualities and suitability for use

Use of industrial equipment including sewing machines
-
Use of hand tools
-
Hand stitching and finishing

Preparation of leather for making
-
Developing creative ideas with 3D samples
The course is delivered as a one week intensive programme Monday-Friday 10.00am - 4.30 pm
(1 hour for lunch)
Or as a block of evening classes one evening a week 6.00pm to 9.00pm for 10 weeks​

Beginners bag making (The Tote)
This course is designed to introduce you to Handbag making and to give you a good foundation on which to develop your skill independently or though other more advance courses on offer.
The course demonstrates these techniques through the patterns and making of turned construction bags (tote bags) these bags are stitched inside out and then turned through with the seams hidden inside. This course is perfect for beginners we will look at some of the most popular shape covering pattern cutting and learning how to use industrial machinery and show you step by step how to make your own turned bag

Intermeadiate Handbag making
building on the Tote (turned construction)
This course is designed to further explore the turned construction bag and is available to students with previous experience of using specialist equipment ideally you will have completed the handbag for beginners course or the small accessories Course with us.
It will enable you to use your prior learning. And will include the insertion of zips, external pockets, different gusset arrangements and piped seams.
The course includes

Suitable lining techniques

Hand Stitched Satchel
This couse is designed to teach traditional craft skills, using the finest quality materials. You will use a standard pattern with a choice of some elements ie handle type and fastenings
The entire bag is made by hand including all cutting edge finishing and stitching.

The leather used for this bag is the finest quality Russet hide which is vegetable tanned and can be dyed to the colour of your choice

This course is aimed at the advanced student and includes design and pattern cutting element enabling you to create your own designer handbag from scratch.
